UMCH Neonatal

It was an honor to spend time with true heroes on this project, along with Livingston Productions and University of Maryland Children’s Hospital. People caring for the tiniest and most vulnerable patients. This film was played at the unveiling of their long-awaited Neonatal Intensive Care Unit opening ceremony.

The Drs. Rouben and Violet Jiji Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was opened in conjunction with the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. The school’s division of neonatology will provide advanced treatments for premature babies, including nutritional management and surgical interventions for birth defects including congenital heart disease, abdominal wall defects, cleft lip/palate repair and brain malformations.

At 37,000-square-feet with 52 private rooms, the new NICU is three times the size of the previous. Rooms are big enough for families to stay together. Each room is equipped with controllable light and sound to help regulate circadian rhythms and mimic the environment within the womb. A large family lounge contains a kitchen, dining area and sitting room.
