Early Light Media (ELM), an award-winning Baltimore-based video production company, is
looking for a Motion Graphics Designer/Animator to join the team. ELM is built on passion,
purpose, amazing clients and dynamic creative partnerships. Our team strives to work in
harmony, exceed expectations and deliver creative services on time and on budget. We thrive on
producing powerful content that capture the human experience and we work on a wide variety of
projects, collaborating with agencies, companies, non profits, and publishers on broadcast
commercials, branded video content and documentaries. We are looking for a talented person
who can develop our storytelling brand incorporating the medium of motion graphics.
The Motion Graphic Designer / Animator is involved in the inspiration, conception, design,
illustration, and animation of motion graphics, character animation, compositing, and visual
effects for video. You’ll edit videos using these assets and other elements to tell dynamic and
engaging visual stories.
The ideal candidate
• Portfolio/demo reel demonstrating a variety of styles and technical capabilities
• A dynamic, highly conceptual, and innovative creative thinker that has a passion for
creating digital content.
• Strong eye for design and visual storytelling including color and typography.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Premier Pro.
• Excellent sense of timing, motion and movement in visual media.
• Experience with 3D animation and modeling experience a plus.
• Understanding of animation, storytelling, and character development techniques.
• Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work.
• Attention to detail, problem solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
• Ability to take direction well, but also motivated and capable of handling a project from
start to finish.
• Adaptability, and receptiveness to feedback and direction.
• Ability to work in a flexible and open work environment.
• Ability to lead and influence.
Key duties include
• Create animations and videos for a range of content from branded graphics elements,
explainer videos, infographics, to full productions.
• Collaborating with the client and production team members to understand needs, ideation
and implementation of creative direction, review scripts, creating and compositing highend
animations for short-form digital video.
• Develop style frames and storyboards in a range of styles for animated and mixed-media
video content.
• Video-editing in Adobe Premier.
• Serves as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal teams to create compelling stories through
motion and animation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexities, meet deadlines, and work well
under pressure.
• Handle all technical aspects of video production.
• Marketing material support including concept design and execution.
Qualifications
• Professional experience in Video Editing and Motion Graphics
• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in computer animation, fine arts, graphic design, or
related field
• Expertise in software applications specific to creative design, including but not limited to
the Adobe Suite
