“I imagine many of the best stories are not told easily with a straight shot to the finish line,” he says. “Rather, being forced to chart your own path around spots of resistance and uncertainty is the very thing that saves great storytelling from being a mechanical practice. Whenever I get stuck on something, I try to remind myself that a roadblock is just as integral as a burst of inspiration when it comes to the living dance of storytelling.”
